In a complaint filed yesterday, the Dish Network filed suit against the major TV networks for a declaratory judgment that the Dish Network’s “auto hop” feature, which allows viewers to skip commercials with the touch of a button (instead of fast-forwarding), is lawful.  The case is before Judge Swain, and was one of three cases filed yesterday on the same issue. CBS and Fox sued the Dish Network in two separate suits in federal court in Los Angeles, accusing the Dish Network of copyright infringement and breaching its licenses.  The Hollywood Reporter has links to the other complaints and more background on the dispute.
